The seven weeks before Easter has traditionally been observed as a time of penitence and spiritual self-examination. The ashes are Old Testament symbols of sadness and humility. The second symbolic meaning of ashes is a reminder of our own mortality. Our bodies and material possessions will eventually turn to dust and ashes. The Lenten season begins with Ash Wednesday but ends with Easter, with God resurrecting us from ashes to make us new creatures.
We will begin the season of Lent by re-evaluating our spiritual lives and striving to live the Christian life more faithfully and more intentionally. We invite everyone in our church family to adopt a new Lenten spiritual practice to allow us to have a closer personal relationship with God.
Geraniums for Easter
The Betsy Bissette Circle will be selling Geraniums for our Easter services again this year in honor or in memory of loved ones. They will be in 6 1/2" pots in a sleeve for $10. Three colors will be available: red, pink, and white. Order forms will be in the bulletins on March 24 or you may stop by the church office to place your order. Orders and payment are due no later than Monday, April 8. Proceeds from the sale will go to church and community missions. Thank you for your consideration of our project for our church!
